The 2022 Lexus NX Gets New Powertrains
The Lexus NX lineup starts with a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre which supplies 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque in the NX 250. This engine is paired with a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Then, there’s the new 2.4-litre turbocharged engine in the NX350. It delivers 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. It is also mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time AWD.
The NX 350h (formerly known as NX 300h) gets a power boost with 239 horsepower. It’s also quicker from 0 to 100 km/h with a time of 7.4 seconds. It also uses less fuel compared to the outgoing model with a 6.5 L/100 km city/highway combined rating.
The new NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid variant is truly innovative. It uses a combination of a gas engine, electric motor and a 18.1-kWh battery to output no less than 302 horsepower. This PHEV Lexus NX will give you a full 58 kilometres of range without using a single drop of fuel.
This 450h+ variant can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 6.2 seconds. With a 240V power source, it takes about 2.5 hours to fully charge the battery.
The 2022 Lexus NX Gets New Tech Inside and Out
Inside, the new NX gets a spectacular redesign. It now features a new standard 9.8-inch or optional 14.1-inch centre touchscreen that feature Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a new navigation system with integrated Google POI data and over-the-air updates. Drivers can also take advantage of a new seven-inch instrument cluster and available 10-inch head-up display.
For 2022, the NX also has a new Virtual Assistant that lets the driver and passengers control navigation, media, phone and certain vehicle settings.
